In the Church we often say: We know that God causes all things to work together for good for those who love God (Romans 8:28a)  as a way of saying I don’t understand what is going on – but I am trusting God.

Let me tell you a story.

John and Sally Childress (who work with Life Is Full Of Choices working in London with people who have addictive behaviors) came to Texas to visit with us for a few days in March. Two days later all flights to England were shut down.

They were here almost 3 months, living in our 5th wheel while we lived with Paul and Katie in the house. That was an amazing experience for us and could be a whole letter in itself.

While here, John and Sally decided to film their lessons for the people with whom they work that explain addictive behaviors, where they come from and the results of giving into addictive behaviors.  You see, John and Sally do not believe in the current popular thought that once you are addict you are always an addict. They believe the Bible when it says: Christ set us free for freedom. Therefor be standing firm, and do not again be held in a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1 – Disciples Literal New testament).

Paul, in Galatians, equates returning to the legalism of “religion” to slavery. John and Sally explain how addictive behaviors are a choice – and making the choice to go back to those addictive behaviors once you have been freed from them is choosing to go back into the slavery of addiction. An awesome parallel.

They are having a great response and when they put their lessons on the internet they started drawing people from well beyond London.

That started me thinking about the seminars Sheryl and I are doing called Raising Responsible Adults where we are talking to parents about how to raise kids who will turn into responsible adults.

It is normally an eights hour seminar and we have been stretching it out over eight weeks to give parents a chance to internalize what we are presenting.  That seems to work well.

I started thinking about our Seminar and what would happen if we divided it up intro smaller chunks.  A person could listen to it on the go. We would have 20 or maybe even 30 short sessions. Maybe, in this way, we could have a broader impact.

As you know, Sheryl has been working on transcribing the video we took of a recent seminar. That transcription will be the framework for the script and we will work toward getting these lessons on the internet.

What will happen? I don’t know. But as you can see, all things do work together for those who love the Lord.
